Its true, flu and cold season is here. This year seems especially brutal, with many nasty variations floating around. A day off here and there to chill and catch up on your favorite shows isn’t that bad, but it sucks when a flu or cold overtakes you.
Here are a few simple things to try to fend off colds and flus for you and your family.
1. Wands your hands- Wash your hands (twice for emphasis!) This is the single strongest method that you can use to kill the spread of viruses at the core. It’s true that you can’t control other people’s behaviour, but you can control yours. The correct method is to use soap and scrub for at least 20 seconds, like a surgeon would prior to surgery. This means scrubbing between your fingers, the backs of your hands and under your fingernails. Wash your hands at least 4 or 5 times per day.
2. Get your flu shot. There are 3 main influenza types to watch out for. Every year medical experts choose the most widespread strain to create the flu vaccine with. Although it is a pain to get a shot, pun intended, the small effects it causes usually are a lot less than receiving the flu full blown.
3. Exercise regularly- Regular exercise helps your immune system going and makes sure you are in top shape. Exercise will also help you recover more quickly if you do succumb to a cold or flu.
4.- Keep your home as clean as possible Germs can lurk in all corners of your home in areas like countertops, desks and your floors. Daily cleaning of these areas helps to ward off sickness and germs. A regular program with a professional deep-cleaning carpet cleaning company can make sure that your carpets are cleaned and sanitized properly. A regular carpet sanitization program has been proved to remove close to 90% of airborne bacteria- a huge safeguard against flu and cold viruses!
