If you use the wrong products or techniques you can damage the carpets appearance and even its overall lifespan.

However, Industry experts say that the largest threat to your carpets is not having a carpet maintenance program in the first place.
They warn that not having a proactive maintenance program has many negative consequences. When people wait until carpets look dirty to clean them, the damage has been done. The problem is carpeting has been designed to intentionally hide the dirt. So when you clean them only when they look dirty, how dirty is it really? Thus the need for a carpet maintenance program that includes regular vacuuming and deep cleaning at least twice a year.
Also, the attempt at taking out spots or stains can be a challenge. Identifying the spot is the first step in making sure that you can select the correct product. Then you can choose either an acid based cleaner or an alkaline based cleaner to attack it.
Also, the largest mistake that many make is to not check their chemicals on the carpet in an inconspicuous place, so they may bleach the carpet.  It is recommended to test any cleaning chemicals or solvents under a desk or in a corner first.
Also, address the spot as quickly as possible and avoid the urge to rub it. First blot or removing the excess, then start from the outside and work inward. Don’t try to rub it because it will spread farther.
By implementing regular maintenance, your carpets will last a long time and not wear out prematurely, and look great in the meantime!
